Rev. Fr. Prof. Nnamdi Nwankwo

Rev. Fr. Prof. Nnamdi Ambrose Nwankwo is the 3rd Rector of Enugu State Polytechnic Iwollo. He is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. His proficiency is most expressed in educational administration, in teaching and in academic research.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo studied in the prestigious Bigard Memorial Seminary and continued his educational quest in the United States at Montclair State University New Jersey; and the famous Duquesne University Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Fr. Prof. Nwankwo got his Ph.D in 1995 at Duquesne with specialty in the Phenomenology of Maurice Merleu-Ponty.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo was the ex-while Principal of College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu. He was there for 12 years and became the longest reigned principal of that Catholic College. He took the school from grass to grace and made it the best secondary school in Southeast Nigeria.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo was a Lecturer at UNN in the Philosophy Department for 12 years before taking the mantle of leadership at ESPOLY. He became the first Rector to move to the permanent site at Aguobu Iwollo. He attracted massive infrastructural development through Tetfund and other connections. He brought all the scattered campuses back to Iwollo and restructured the academic and administrative arms of the Polytechnic.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo introduced a Catholic Chaplaincy and thus revived the spiritual life of the school.

He expanded the School of Agriculture and introduced massive farms, and animal husbandry. He built a huge Feed mill that is supplying all the needed feed for the animals and birds.

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo is a workaholic that believes in results more than in Bureaucracy. He believes in team work and pushes his Principal Officers and Staff to fight through hardship.

 

Without much financial encouragement from the proprietors, he became the first Rector to conduct a Convocation in that school and was the first to get a 100% accreditation for 22 programmes.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo took the Polytechnic to the global world by building robust Website and programmes that made the school visible in the internet. His believe in self-discipline yielded a huge result in the overall development and progress of the school.

 

Fr. Prof. Nwankwo is from Eke town in Udi Local Government Area. He is known for the promotion of his local cultures and the decolonization of our major belief systems. He applies his experiences not only in school administration but also in community developments.

 

In his clerical calling, he was a Parish Priest to few parishes and rose to the rank of Episcopal Vicar for Priests of Enugu Diocese and Episcopal Vicar for Public Relations of the Diocese.

 

In the Civil world, he was the Deputy Chairman for the Enugu State Christian Pilgrim Board; the Chairman of Ogbete Market Electoral Board; and the Chairman of Enugu State Pension Review Committee. 

 

In the academic field, Fr. Prof. Nwankwo is a member of the Senate of Coal City University Enugu. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the newly recognized Heerey University. Aba in Abia State. Fr. Prof Nnamdi Ambrose Nwankwo is a man of many hats. We are lucky to have him.
